Krebs Public School Has a New Way to Notify Parents

Krebs Public School can now reach more parents, more quickly using a new a parent notification system. Krebs Public School has become the latest school to adopt the SchoolReach technology. SchoolReach allows school administrators to send personally recorded messages to parents and guardians keeping them up-to-date with school infomation pertaining to their student.

"Every school district needs the service that SchoolReach provides. It is essential for notifying families quickly about events such as school closings and emergencies, as well as important dates about upcoming activities at individual schools," superintendent of Krebs Public Schools Lawrence Scarpitti said.

"We are so excited," school employee Cookie Holland said of the new system. Often in inclement weather the schools receive many calls from parents checking if school is in session. If the roads begin to ice on days that school is already in session, school buses will not drive ordinary routes. In the past teachers would have to make calls to all of the parents and hope to reach someone. Now parents can be notified via SchoolReach of situations as they arise.

Holland said the new technology is also useful for conveying other information. "We can notify parents that that their child is on the failing list and cannot participate in activities," Holland said. She also says that often older kids don't make it home with notes from school. The school can now easily send the information with SchoolReach and "make sure the information gets home."

Vice -president of operations at GroupCast, SchoolReach's parent company Paul Langhorst sees SchoolReach as another tool to help parents receive timely information. "Schools struggle with 'immediate, same day, or night-before' notices to parents," Langhorst said. "SchoolReach fills this need perfectly and requires no additional hardware, software, or phone lines to operate the solution.
